9/27/16 Luke Gasper-Markel
Today this post is going to be covering changes made in sci-fi film throughout the ages. This topic discusses the reaction people have had from shows and movies becoming for socially acceptable. Two examples of this involve the first interracial kiss on star trek and Star Wars episode 7. The star trek kiss scene was aired during a time when the civil rights movement was going on which stirred up a lot of controversy. This was even banned in the south for some time because of this one scene. Its incredible how far cinema and TV shows have grown since that time which now brings us to movies like star wars where the main characters for the new movie are female and African american. This topic was disused in class and also provided examples such as the all female ghost busters. These breakthroughs in cinema really show how far science fiction works have come and hopefully continue to break through walls that were once seen as unacceptable.
